From April 22 to 27, the 29th meeting of the China-Russia Mixed Committee on Fisheries Cooperation was held via video conference. The two sides conducted full exchanges and in-depth discussions on the implementation of The Protocol Between China and Russia on Cooperation in the Protection, Adjustment and Proliferation of Fishery Resources in Border Waters of the Heilongjiang River and Ussuri River, the cooperation in marine capture in 2020, the implementation of The Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement Between China and Russia on Preventing, Stopping and Eliminating Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing of Living Marine Resources, and the fisheries cooperation between Jilin Province and Russia's Primorsky Krai as well.

The two sides agreed that as bilateral exchanges around fisheries are deepening and the cooperation is getting closer, the fishery relationship between the two countries is at the historical best.

The meeting reviewed the cooperation since the 28th meeting of the China-Russia Mixed Committee on Fisheries Cooperation, and made specific arrangements for the joint inspection of fishery administration and the conservation of living aquatic resources in border waters of the Heilongjiang River and Ussuri River in 2020. The two sides also agreed on China's fishing quotas and required fishing conditions in Russia's exclusive economic zone in the Bering Sea, and adopted specific measures on cracking down upon illegal trade of aquatic products and strengthening cooperation between Jilin Province and Primorsky Krai.

In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the two sides agreed to take effective measures to protect the health and life of personnel of both countries and ensure the smooth development of fisheries cooperation.

The two sides signed the minutes of the meeting and agreed that the 30th meeting of the China-Russia Mixed Committee on Fisheries Cooperation would be held in China in the first quarter of 2021.
